Our Czech colleagues at the Construction Convention in Brno.
The fourteenth International Construction Convention IBF Brno took place from 21 - 25 April.
The 2009 convention motto was "energy-saving buildings."
The convention was a clear signal for exhibitors and visitors that things must keep moving even in hard economic times.
At a 100 m² stand, JafHolz Tschechien presented its wide array of products.
The greatest interest was aroused by doors and doorframes by Dana, Sapeli, Masonite, and Westag Getalit.
Terrace decks made of thermowood and compact panels for façades also resonated well.
The construction segment was represented by KVH, BSH, OSB, plywood panels, concrete type, and
BBS plywood boards.
Last but not least, the new veneer floor by Kaindl was presented.
The convention was a good meeting place for vendors and customers, and 100 new contacts were made this year.
With 100,000 visitors in 5 days, the convention was well attended; the majority of the visitors were private customers.
According to a survey, 78% of the visitors were quite satisfied with the information available.
03.03.09 3.3.-8.3.2009
Our Slovenian national organization, in cooperation with Fundermax, once again took part in the 48th international Dom convention.
577 exhibitors from 30 countries showed their products in a 18,000 m2 exhibition area.
The convention was augmented by numerous sub-events, and over 50,000 visitors found their way to the convention.
The Dom convention is one of the largest and most important contruction, carpentry, interior design, etc. conventions.
We primarily exhibited wood construction products, BSH, KVH, and terrace wood. We were able to make a number of interesting contacts, and terrace wood in particular was an important subject, as it had been in Prague.
26.02.09 26.2.-1.3.2009
Libor Palásek, from the Vyskov, Czech Republic branch, provided us with the following summary of this important convention for wood and prefabricated house manufacturers.
According to Mr Palásek, the convention was well attended, though most attendants were private customers. An estimated 50,000 people participated.
Our stand was evaluated very positively, and many of our customers, who purchase KVH, VSH, Fermacell, and other products, were also represnted at the convention.
In addition to cultivating these contacts, we were also able to reach new target groups, in particular architects, designers, and carpenters with whom we had not yet been in contact.
BBS construction components and thermowood had their début at the convention. Particular interest was aroused by our line of terrace decks made of massarunduba, bangkirai, thermowood, Grenadeck, and WPC.
Overall, the convention was once again a great success, and remains a worthwhile forum for us and our products.
24.01.09 Topic: High-Class Timber
The event, scheduled for 1 PM, began with a presentation by Dietmar Grünert about various wood types and defects. This was followed by a presentation about timber surveying by Joachim Koch. After all this information, refreshment, in the form of a delicious Swedish smorgasbord, was quite welcome. In a relaxed atmosphere over haunch of elk, Gravad salmon, and Biff à la Lindström, personal contacts were made and deepened. The event then continued with a presentation about the recent FSC certification that will also apply to ImHolz Leipzig starting 1 January 2009.
All this theory was followed by practical timber grading in our saw wood warehouse.
The participants had the opportunity to see for themselves the performance, bredth, and depth of the ImHolz line in the areas of high-class timber and veneers. Mr Krosse, our saw wood warehouse chief, presented
a wide array of wood types in the impeccably organized warehouse, including olive, padouk, and various customized jobs for our customers. Our guests were particularly impressed by the technology, in particular our vacuum jack.
The hosts were pleased with the participation of 36 companies and a total of 90 people.
A mini-market research survey conducted among our guests yielded the following principal wood types: Number 1 was oak, followed by pine and beech! The event was rounded out with a raffle with lovely prizes, specifically a travel gift certificate, 1 cubic meter of untrimmed beech, and a timber atlas. The event was described positively by all participants, and once again made clear the importance of the issue of high-class timber.
20.01.09 First Visit to a Construction Convention in Poland
Our young Polish national organization presented itself for the first time at a Polish construction convention.
Budma 2009, which took place in Poznan from 20 - 23 January, is the largest construction convention in the region with its 1,200 exhibitors from 35 countries and an exhibition area of 40.000 m².
We presented terrace decks, concrete formwork panels, plywood, and staircase construction materials. Our co-exhibitor was Westag-Getalit.
According to Adam Stachowiak, responsible for operations in Poland, the goal of participating in the convention was to make a name for JAF Polska and to show that it belonged to a strong international organization.
There were many interesting conversations, and JAF Polska is certain that they will result in contracts.
